Submission: Tilt-A-World for Emma Anna’s Todo Loco IV.

Featured: Pretending to Be Present

About a week ago, on Saturday, I randomly came across Emma Anna’s Giphy channel, and I’m so glad I did, because her work is so cool. I immediately felt like I found company with a mutual design aesthetic, so I reached out to tell her as much. She clued me into an exhibition she’s working on called Todo Loco IV: Pandemonium, and said I should submit some work, so I did.

Given the current climate, and the expo’s theme, I pulled together four specific sub themes to feature for my submission entitled Tilt-A-World. Those themes are fear, paranoia, nostalgia, and interference.

(Note: All links go to Opensea)

  1. Scared of What’s to Come

  2. Hoarding Valuables

  3. Nostalgic for Simpler Times

  4. Pretending to Concentrate on the Present

For the pieces, I used 90’s trading cards that were popular during the Gulf War. Vintage toys. A cherished picture frame made by my mother and I, that is of my sister and brother and me (we picked the shells ourselves!) and iconic NYC coffee cups, because no matter what happens in this world, I’ll always need coffee, even if it makes me feel jittery.

Here’s some more info on Todo Loco:

Local and international artists are invited to propose collage-based artworks (digital, analog or moving image) for inclusion in the fourth edition of Todo Loco.

The theme for Todo Loco IV is : PANDEMONIUM

pan de mo ni um | noun

1 : a wild uproar (as because of anger or excitement in a crowd of people)

also : a chaotic situation

2 capitalized : the capital of Hell in Milton’s Paradise Lost

The exhibition will pop up in a series of shopfront display spaces across Frankston, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia, from late April through to mid May, 2022 coinciding with World Collage Day 2022 (May 14).

One last piece of business:
